Didsbury Bake Off 2014

Bake off cake

The Great British Bake off is back on our screens and baking enthusiasts up and down the country are donning their aprons to get creative in the kitchen. Just in time, we say, as for the third year running, we’re looking to crown Didsbury’s best baker in the Great Didsbury Bake Off.

For the past two years, we have held this tough-fought competition as part of our West Fest celebrations.

Previous entries have ranged from French patisserie inspired chocolate and raspberry to classic walnut loaf cake to tempting toffee and rum cake. Whatever your baking abilities or decorating skills, it’s all for a good cause as after the judging, cakes go on sale with all proceeds going to Lancasterian School.

Cake sales from last year’s Bake Off helped the school to purchase an oven so the children can learn to bake their own cakes.

Enter to be crowned Didsbury’s Best Baker

To enter the competition, simply register your interest by emailing us. Then all you need to do is bring along your freshly prepared cake to the back garden of the deli by 3:30pm on Saturday 30th August 2014.

The lucky winner will receive a £25 Thyme Out voucher and more importantly, the title of Didsbury’s Best Baker 2014.

The Didsbury Bake Off is free to enter but after the competition, we ask that you leave your cake with us as the following day, we will make the competition cakes available for sale, with all proceeds going to charity.

Rules of Entry

The only rules of entry are that the cake (or cupcakes) needs to be large enough to serve 12 people or more (minimum size 9 inch tin for a single cake) and only cakes from amateur home bakers will be accepted. All cakes will be judged on both presentation and taste and the judge’s decision is final.

For more information or to put your name down, email us or alternatively you can call us on 0161 434 8686.
